New Parents As you hold your newborn infant in your arms you have probably experienced the desire to give him or her the best of everything. The most beneficial gift you can give your child is a happy and healthy marriage. Researchers have found that, on average, children whose parents have a healthy marriage do better on every single positive social outcome from emotional health to higher academic achievement. However researchers have also found that marital satisfaction can drop somewhat when a couple adds a newborn to their relationship. The good news is that researchers have also found that this drop is not inevitable. When a couple has the skills and knowledge to cope with the inevitable differences in parenting styles and still nurture their marital relationship despite sleep deprivation, less time, etc., then couples can grow closer together and develop a more satisfying marital relationship than before they had the baby.The key is to have the relationship skills and knowledge to make it happen.
